Discover how cuisine is created
Molecular Gastronomy – Introduction – TAFE PLUS Statement
If you are fascinated by the ‘how’ and ‘why’ of creating cuisine, then our new Molecular Gastronomy course may be right up your alley.
The term was invented by two men, Nicholas Kurti and Hervé This in 1988. They wanted to create a new way of investigating cooking methods, at the same time retaining their artistic passion for the way food looks.
This course, the first of its kind in Australia, aims to:
- Explain and demonstrate new techniques and how these can be used in everyday cuisine
- Help you cook better food by giving you an understanding of what is actually happening
- Help you explore your reasons for creating a dish
The course would suit anyone wanting to push the boundaries in new styles of food, although it helps to have a good grasp of cooking basics before attempting this style. The hands-on nature of cooking means this course is conducted face-to-face with experts who can advise and direct you to achieve the right results.
Bookings are currently being taken for an 8-week course beginning in February, 2009, run by the Hunter Culinary Academy which also offers courses in seafood, meat, poultry, game, desserts and more.
